One Dress, Five Ways: Styling a Brown Polka Dot Dress for Fall | The Outfit Bank No. 006 - The Art Of Styling
One dress, five outfits, and hopefully five reasons to keep reaching for something already hanging in my closet.
For the first look in this series, I'm styling a brown dress with blue polka dots, paired with an oversized camel chunky-knit cropped sweater. I love the combination of the warm brown and camel tones against the unexpected pop of blue. It's an easy outfit for those warmer fall days when you want to dress for the season without getting too bundled up.
I finished the look with tan-brown platform knee-high boots and a tan fringe leather bag. For jewelry, I layered a gold herringbone snake chain necklace with a gold hand charm and added chunky gold hoops with a removable puffy gold heart charm. The gold accessories bring warmth to the outfit and make the whole combination feel a little more intentional.
This is also a good example of why I wanted to start this series. I recently purchased the dress and want to make sure I get as much wear out of it as possible. I'm also giving some attention to these knee-high boots, which I was actually considering selling. Before letting them go, I wanted to see if I could find new ways to incorporate them into my wardrobe. This outfit has already given me a reason to keep them!
I'd wear this on a warmer fall day, but if the temperature drops later in the afternoon, I'd simply add a leather jacket and scarf. I love outfits that can adapt throughout the day without requiring an entirely different wardrobe.
Over the next four looks, I'll be experimenting with different combinations to see just how versatile this dress can be. The idea isn't to buy five new outfits, but to discover five different ways to wear what I already own.
