Hello and welcome to CERACHARM!

Thank you for allowing me to introduce myself. Online, I go by NJ. My work blends digital design with traditional ceramics; I use generative tools to sketch forms, then bring them to life by hand in porcelain using ceramic hand building techniques, molds and stamps.

Some forms are original designs, while others are vintage or modern designs sourced from various vendors around the world. Each design is carefully handcrafted in porcelain - shaped, sanded, and kiln-fired by hand.

Digital processes help me experiment with new shapes, but every piece is ultimately handmade in porcelain. This combination allows me to create designs that are both modern and tactile, with the individuality that only handmade work can offer.

You see, I started this venture as a creative outlet in the midst of my career as an informaticist. Armed with a Bachelor of Science in Biology, I embarked on the traditional STEM journey, initially as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist solving the intricate puzzles of the Microbiology Lab. But beneath the sterile lab coats and meticulous data analysis, I yearned for an outlet to express my artistic side.

Enter the "Eureka!" moment: I decided to delve into the world of front-end development through a coding bootcamp. Little did I know that this would be the catalyst for my creative journey. I started designing and tinkering with a website to showcase jewelry and accessories as a mere addition to my portfolio. But what started as a project soon took on a life of its own.

Lo and behold, CERACHARM emerged as a tangible expression of my passion. As I delved into the art of crafting and curating jewelry, I couldn't help but fall head over heels in love with this endeavor. I wanted to share my passion for these exquisite pieces with the world, and thus, CERACHARM was born.

While my heart now resides in the realm of design and clay, my love for technology is still very much alive. I aspire to fuse the two worlds while the devotion to crafting beautiful, meaningful pieces remains unwavering.
